Mike brings decades of experience in the mining industry, with a strong background in financial leadership including project evaluations and M&A, debt and equity financings and financial reporting.

Prior to B2Gold, Mike was an audit partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he led the BC Resources practice for Mining, Forestry, Energy, and Utilities. A recognized leader in the industry, Mike served as President of the Canadian Institute of Mining for 2023-2024 and has held various directorships, including with Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and holds an LL.B from the University of Exeter. Mike brings extensive expertise in finance, public company reporting and governance to the Moranda board.

Mijael is a senior mining executive specializing in strategic development, leading complex mining projects from exploration, project development, construction through to commissioning and full steady-state operation.

After Esperanza, Mijael was General Manager of Anglo American’s world-class Los Bronces copper mine in Chile, and latterly was a partner at Matrix Consulting, where he advised blue-chip organisations on multi-billion dollar investments into the base metals sector. Mijael’s key enabler for success has proven to be a strong empathy for people driven solutions and innovative operating models, which deliver sustainable results, underpinned by cultural change.
